DWP Adopt 0345 | Cutting costs for Claimants
Today we can confirm that the Department of Work and Pensions have officially adopted 0345 telephone numbers for their customer service networks.
This is great news as it means that claimants who want to contact the DWP to chase progress with benefit claims, notify changes of circumstances or need general advice won’t be charged for calls from BT Landlines and will be able to use inclusive Mobile minutes without incurring any additional costs.
Whilst the 0845 telephone numbers do remain operational the DWP have started taking steps to change all official correspondence so that they reflect the new and potentially cheaper telephone service.
Well done DWP
I just called my telephone provider Vodaphone to find that this number costs 50p per min from my mobile phone
This is good for people who use B.T. but what about those that use TalkTalk? 0345 numbers are classed as Premium numbers & charged accordingly/ IF the DWP want to make a level playing field try using 0800 which are recognized by more providers as FREE, instead of “promoting” B.T.
Can you reduce the long waiting time
When phoning DWP, why are we made to wait for a very long time for an adviser to answer, all this does is create frustration and run up our non-contract phone bills. Not everyone has a mobile contract or free daytime calls. Why do you not have either a freephone service to help us poor folk or even an email service.
why is this number cutting all the time i call
I was given an 084 number and it cost me 44p per minute ptting about 20piunds on my phone bill I was not nade aware of another number. Why did you ever have a premium rate number making money out of people you are supposed to be helping !?
I’m with EE P.A.Y.G and they will charge me an access charge of 44 pence per minute and a service charge based on the service provider I am calling.
Hi Jeanette,
All calls to numbers starting 03 will be treated in the same way as calls to numbers starting 01 or 02, so if you have inclusive minutes that covers 01/02 numbers 0345 Numbers will also be covered.
Calls to the DWP from EE should not attract any additional charges.
Please see the EE 0345 Call Costs page for more information
Here you will find details on costs when you DON’T have inclusive minutes.
